Each teacher is trained in the Bona Bana curriculum and pedagogy. With formal training in art and education, they combine technical expertise with a strong commitment to developing confident, capable artists.
Raphaela Cocotos is the Senior Teacher at Bona Bana Art School. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of the Witwatersrand and leads all our classes during the week. Her art practice spans drawing, painting, printmaking and wearable design - with a love for unconventional materials and tactile making. In the classroom, Raphaela brings a calm, thoughtful energy and a strong sense for how young people learn. Her ability to connect, guide, and adapt makes her a steady and creative presence in every lesson.
Faye Lucini teaches at Bona Bana Art School on Thursdays and Saturdays. She is currently completing her degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of the Witwatersrand and brings a clear warmth and sensitivity to her work with children. Faye has experience in both education and care settings, and her personal art practice includes watercolour, acrylic, collage, and more. She’s passionate about creating a joyful, supportive space for young artists to explore, experiment, and build confidence in their own creative voice.
At Bona Bana Art School, we are committed to inspiring creativity, building confidence, and fostering a sense of community. Our classrooms are spaces where imagination is celebrated, mistakes are embraced, and personal growth is encouraged.
