POLICY & GUIDELINES

We’ve built a structure that supports creativity, clarity, and calm — for parents, students, and teachers alike.

1. FEE STRUCTURE & TERMS

COST:  R860/month per student billed termly (Payable Monthly)

Our Art Classes are a termly commitment.

New Students beginning mid-month will be billed pro-rata for their joining month.

We are closed from 10 Dec - 15 Jan. All fees are payable in advance of lessons:

You can choose to pay termly, or monthly:

  • Pay upfront per term fee

  • Or Pay R860/month, due before the 1st of each month in the term

5 cancelled lessons are included in the way we structured our fee. (This does not include public holidays as we are closed during all public holidays). This reflects what we’ve seen across the school, year after year - a few missed lessons due to holidays, illness, school events, etc. The average attendance we observed was 39 lessons annually. However Bona Bana offers 44 lessons annually. Therefore we offer all students the opportunity to attend 5 free lessons a year, or to cancel 5 lessons without worrying.

2. Attendance, Make-ups, & Cancellation policy

All communications must be through our official channels. Please do not liaise directly with our teachers regarding finance, attendance, cancellation etc.

No Refund Policy:
Attendance is the responsibility of our parents and students. Our structure allows for parents to (for example) attend 44 lessons in a year, doing up to 5 make-up lessons to account for a 3 week holiday and 2 sickness cancellations. Because of this we do not offer refunds.

Make Up Lessons:

Make up lessons are a great way to ensure that your child stays up to date with the their art classes. We offer up to 5 make-up lessons/year/student. Just remember to arrange with us in advance. These make-up lessons are space and availability dependent and therefore not guaranteed. We do not carry make-up lessons over to next year. We will try our best to suggest suitable times for you to join a make-up class and encourage this!

Terminating Enrolment:

Since our fee already accommodates occasional absences. We currently offer no option to pause or hold fees. If you choose to cancel art class mid-term, we kindly request a full calendar month’s written notice. (Please provide this notice at the start or end of the month to give us enough time to fill your spot. Fees will still be due for the notice month.)

3. Behaviour, Safety & Consent

The safety and wellbeing of our learners is our highest priority. Thank you for helping us create a secure, respectful, and inspiring space for everyone at Bona Bana.

Drop-Off & Pick-Up
To ensure every child’s safety, we kindly ask that all parents or guardians drop off and collect their children from inside the classroom. This allows us to personally confirm that each learner is going home with the correct person. Please note that Bona Bana Art School is not responsible for learners before they enter or after they leave the classroom. It remains the responsibility of parents or guardians to ensure safe arrival and departure from the premises.

Parking
If you plan to stay during your child’s lesson, please use the parking area at the back of the office park. The front and basement bays are reserved for tenants. Your cooperation helps prevent congestion and supports good relationships with our neighbours.

Waiting Area
We’ve created a designated waiting room for parents and guardians during class time. This is a quiet zone to support a calm and focused learning environment. Please keep noise to a minimum, avoid food spills, and dispose of any packaging or leftovers responsibly.

Toilet & Classroom Safety
We follow clear safety procedures throughout the lesson, including bathroom use. If you are waiting outside and your child is aged four to five, we ask that you accompany them to the bathroom. If no guardian is available, a staff member will step in to assist.

Emergency Contact
Please ensure that your child’s emergency contact details are up to date on our client form. We keep this information readily accessible at all times in case we need to urgently contact you during class hours.

Boundaries & Behaviour
We believe in creating a space where every child feels safe, respected, and free to express themselves. To support this, we follow a simple Classroom Code of Conduct that we ask all families to uphold:

Our Classroom Code of Conduct:

  • Respect Others: Speak kindly and listen when others are speaking.

  • Be Considerate: Think about how your words and actions affect others.

  • Be Honest: Share your thoughts and feelings truthfully and respectfully.

  • Be Responsible: Own your actions and their impact.

Indemnity & Responsibility
By enrolling your child in Bona Bana Art School classes, you agree that the school, its staff, and agents shall not be held liable for any injury, loss, damage, or expense incurred by your child while attending or participating in any class, activity, or event held on the premises. Parents and guardians accept full responsibility for their child’s conduct and safety and agree to indemnify and hold harmless Bona Bana Art School against any claims arising from their child’s attendance.
